Zafer Atayurt
Clinical Embryologist · Ventus IVF
Extensive IVF laboratory experience since 2003, spanning oocyte and sperm assessment, ICSI, embryo culture, blastocyst biopsy, cryopreservation and laboratory quality management.
A career spanning more than two decades in the IVF laboratory.
After graduating from the Department of Biology at Middle East Technical University in 2000, Zafer Atayurt began his IVF career in 2003 at the Assisted Reproductive Technologies and Genetics Centre of Memorial Şişli Hospital.
From the early years of his career, he worked in both andrology and embryology laboratories, gaining experience across the different stages of the assisted-reproduction laboratory, from gamete assessment to embryo development.
He received his Embryology Certificate from the Turkish Ministry of Health in 2005. In the following years, he contributed to the training of numerous embryologist candidates and served as an instructor at international hands-on embryology workshops.
After many years managing embryology laboratories at different IVF centres, he joined Ventus IVF in 2023 and continues to serve as IVF Laboratory Director.
No two embryos develop in exactly the same way.
Clinical embryology experience is not only about performing procedures; it is also about observing thousands of different oocytes, sperm samples and embryo-development patterns over the years and learning which details matter.
Technology shows the data. Experience teaches you which data deserve the closest attention.
In an IVF laboratory, small details in temperature, gas balance, culture conditions, procedure timing, micromanipulation technique and embryo assessment all matter.
Working over many years with large and diverse patient groups, varying sperm and oocyte characteristics and different embryo-development patterns provides a broader perspective for laboratory decision-making.
Experience working with more than 30,000 patients in clinical embryology laboratories since 2003.
Quality, organisational and technical management of IVF laboratory processes.
Experience in certified training programmes and international hands-on workshops.
Advanced experience across different stages of the assisted-reproduction laboratory.
Clinical embryology processes ranging from oocyte and sperm assessment to embryo culture, micromanipulation, vitrification and embryo biopsy.

Good embryology does not happen only under the microscope.
The physical laboratory environment, temperature and gas control, incubator performance, culture media, consumables, equipment maintenance and process standardisation all form part of a high-quality embryology laboratory.
A laboratory where science, technology and experience come together.
While the clinical aspects of IVF treatment are managed by your physician, the laboratory stages involving oocytes, sperm, fertilisation and embryo development are carried out by our experienced embryology team.
